The Hobbit, or There and Back Again, by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Published by Allen and Unwin in 1963.
A nice copy of a very collectable book.
This is a 2nd Edition, fourteenth impression overall, published in 1963.
The books is housed in the original unclipped fourteenth impression dust jacket.
The jacket has a lot of cellotape reinforcements that have made brown stains. It has kept the dustjacket together, but left a lot of marks. Cellotape is still present, as we left it in the condition it arrived.
The book itself is in good condition.
There is Xmas present gift note dated 1964 on the first fly page.
The maps show no foxing, clean and bright. Text block shows some little stains.
The dustjacket is not price clipped, lightly soiled, with a few minor chips or loss to the top and bottom of the spine, along with some light edgewear.
The jacket is slightly darker to the spine, probably from fading through sitting exposed to the light on a shelf.
The books cover shows almost no soiling, with the exception of some small fading to top and botton of the spine and minor fading where light came through the white of the dust jacket.
The corners are slightly bumped, and show small wear.
A nice copy of a very collectable book in the original dust jacket with Tolkien's own design.
Digital photo's available, inquire if interested.
Other Tolkien books available, include both the UK and US editions, original cloth bindings, custom fine bindings, and Signed/Numbered/Limited Editions.
