The Ring of Words: Tolkien and the Oxford English Dictionary Paperback - Review

J.R.R. Tolkien is very famous for his The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, some even know his other book the Silmarillion and that he was professor at Oxford. This paperback edition of The Ring of Words explains all about Tolkien's link to the OED and takes us on…  Read article

In addition of a pure biography this books also tries to discuss Tolkiens books and there internal connections. Next to these book descriptions follow Tolkien's own considerations and…  Read article

Hordes of the Things released on CD by BBC AudioBooks

For fans of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Elvenquest (BBC Audio), this is the epic fantasy series first heard on BBC Radio 4 in 1980 that wonderfully parodies J.R.R. Tolkiens The Lord of the Rings. It contains some good ideas but the series has, these days, been largely forgotten. Here are all four episodes of the classic radio series - now available for the first time on Audio CD.  Read article

This year I will read from the new 10th Anniversary paperback edition, that just has been released.  Read article

The Epic Realm of Tolkien - Part One - Beren and Luthien

This new paperback is part of a series that explores links in Tolkiens writings with the Arthurian tradition. The first book in the series has just been released and has received once again a very fabulous cover design by Ruth Lacon. I expect this book to be genuinely thought-provoking, and readers will find plenty to get their teeth into - if this books follows the same path as the previous publications.
