Sir Gawain & The Green Knight, edited by J.R.R. Tolkien & E.V. Gordon. One of the first books published, with J.R.R. Tolkien contributing to the preface. Published by the Clarendon Press in 1946, the fourth printing of this book, or the third impression of the second edition.
As with most of these books, a well used student copy, unusually still housed in it's original dustjacket.
Dustjacket has some loss at the corners of the flap folds, and the top of the spine has some loss that effects the top line of the title.
The rear of the dustjacket has some penciled notes by one of the students, and a few ink scribble marks as well.
Two previous owners names to the first blank page, considerable notes to the margins in pencil, blue and red ink, throughout the text.
Makes it very handy to help decipher the Olde English text.
A very nice collectable copy for the Tolkien enthusiast.
