A Hobbit Devotional, Bilbo Baggins and the Bible (27.08.12 by Pieter Collier) - Comments

Barbour Publishing's award-winning author Ed Strauss's has recently released a brand-new devotional based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic The Hobbit called A Hobbit Devotional- Bilbo Baggins and the Bible.

If you enjoy J. R. R. Tolkien— even if you’re new to his classic stories — you’ll love A Hobbit Devotional featuring 60 humorous, challenging, and encouraging devotionals.

Soon to be a major motion picture, The Hobbit has fascinated readers for more than 70 years. Now, this tale of humble folk who overcome fear, discouragement, and despair through steadfastness, courage, and hope forms the basis of a brand-new devotional book.

Each reading sketches a scene from The Hobbit, relates it to a contemporary life situation you might experience yourself, and brings in the teaching of a relevant Bible story or verse.

This new book shows a nice cover by Corey Godbey, which I believe fits very well the theme of the book and shows this book is especially meant to be read by teens and young adults. It is one of the many The Hobbit related books that will be released in September and the upcoming months; but not all books are written by authors like Ed Strauss who has won numerous awards.

Get Ready for a Hobbit Invasion!

Be ready for a hobbit invasion that provides BIG lessons for all generations! If you are into religion or not, a christian or a buddhist, an atheist or an agnost - The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien remains a book that can provide lessons for any generation. Many have referred to the fact they use the works by Tolkien as other do use the Bible, which too me always comes as a surprise. But it is nice to see people, like Ed Strauss, to write down where lie the hidden messages in both books.

Ed Strauss is a freelance writer living in British Columbia, Canada. He has authored 18 books for children, tweens, and adults and coauthored an additional 16. Ed has a passion for Biblical apologetics and besides writing for Barbour, has been published by Zondervan, Tyndale, Moody, and Focus on the Family.
