The Hobbit 1956 2nd Edition, 8th Impression in good dustjacket, published by Harper Collins.

A highly collectable copy of The Hobbit, hard to find in this Fine / Good condition.

The book is in Fine condition, with fading to the spine from sunlight shining thru the white sections of the dustjacket. 

The dustjacket is clean and bright with a little soiling and only the slightest of rubs or wear to the corners of the spine folds. 

No previous owners names or other writing to be found. Small bookseller sticker on front free papers.
No foxing marks or offsetting noted. Only some dust to the front of the text block.
The boards are the original green cloth with dark blue stamping of tolkien's own Mountains and Dragon design, with just minor bumps to corners.
The title verso has the full printing history up to this eighth impression of 1956. This copy is a stated 8th impression on title verso, published by Allen & Unwin.
The book features the original Mountains and Dragon design by the author.
The boards show no soiling or marking, no shelfwear to note.
The text block is clean, without foxing. No bumped corners, virtually without fault.

The clipped dustjacket shows only the most minor of rubbing, with a very small amount of loss, to the corners and fold areas.

A beautiful clean copy. Contains the full color frontispiece "The Hill: Hobbiton-across-the Water", as well as the original line drawings by Tolkien.

The maps are in excellent condition, with the red and black ink still showing clear and bright against the endpapers.
Both maps have no foxing, no marks, or previous owners names. A small bookseller sticker present. If jacket was not clipped it would be considered Fine.
