An exceptional Near Fine set of first editions of this classic of fantasy literature.
The dustjackets of the last two volumes are price clipped, with previous owners gift inscription (same) signature and date to the FFEP of the last two books.
The Fellowship of the Ring is not price clipped, and has no inscriptions or dates. Each of the three books has a small Buckinghamshire Bookstore sticker on the FEP. There is absolutely no foxing or offsetting in any of the books. The text block is clean and bright, edges are also clean & bright.
The red topstain is clean, with only the slightest fading. The exterior cloth is extremely clean, with the gilt untarnished and bright. The books look unread, and the maps are attached, and in excellent condition.
The dustjackets are in excellent shape with no chips or wear evident.
No restoration on any of the dustjackets.
All are the correct impression dustjacket's for each of the three books. Only the lightest of sunning to the spines, much less than the norm. A beautiful matched set, virtually without fault. No shelf wear to the edges, only slightest tanning to the dustjackets.
Positively one of the finest available, scarce in this excellent condition.
