This is the 1st Edition, 1st Impression, 1st State, with the Bowing Hobbit on the title page.

The maps are bound opposite to the order of the List of Illustrations, as per Hammond and Anderson.
Chapter VII header is uncorrected and reads as 'Chapter VI'  
This book features the 4 color and 9 black and white illustrations by Tolkien, all of which are present and in extremely clean and bright condition.

There are no names or writing in the book.  
The text block and maps are also very clean and bright, without any foxing whatsoever.  
The original cloth shows no shelf wear on the bottom edges, very clean, and only the lightest wear at the top of the spine.  

I have provided a one piece facsimile of the very rare 1st Dustjacket, along with a custom slipcase, to protect and show this classic of modern fiction.
