Season's Greetings Friends!!!

First of all Tolkien Library wished you all a great Christmass and a fanastic New Year. And a fantastic year it will be! 2005 will be the fiftieth anniversary of the complete publication of The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien. The first two volumes (The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers) were published in 1954, while the third, The Return of the King, was published on October 20th 1955. To celebrate this anniversary many new 'celebration' editions will be printed (and some are all ready on the market as i send this newsletter). The Tolkien Society is holding a special 'celabration' conference and convention in August 2005. I hope the Tolkien Library will grow even better and bigger this year... we will see what the new year will bring!

Site News

tolkienlibrary.com has formed an extreme affiliation with The Battle for Middle-earth.net. Plans have begun to form a unique, but very strong affiliation between the two sites. Battle for Middle Earth.net is a forum for talk and discussion about all things Tolkien, while Tolkien Library is building a large databased driven site which will mainly concentrate on Tolkien as a writer and his works. All members are welcome to join in with this task.

This linking will make for a much better experience all round, and give the sites unrivalled features. Of course each site will maintain it's original qualities, including Tolkien Library's publishing details and rare copies of Tolkien books, but there will be many great enhancements as well.
