|Tree and Leaf, by J.R.R. Tolkien.
The First Printing of the US Edition of J.R.R. Tolkien's fifth published book.
4,500 copies published March 3, 1965 by Houghton Mifflin, Boston.
This copy is a beautiful example of a Near Fine Book and its original dustjacket.
Clean and bright, still shows the original topstain to the textblock. The dustjacket has a bit of rubbing to the edges with a small closed tear to upper front edge of the dustjacket.
The dustjacket, by Robert Quackenbush, shows the dark blue and bright orange/red colors, shows no degree of soiling or browning to the white rear panel of the dustjacket, with only the slightest of browning to the top of the flap edges.
The spine is slightly faded but not tanned. The orange topstain is a bit dusty but not faded. The original blue cloth is clean and bright, unmarked, and the gilt is untarnished.
The interior of the book is also clean and bright, with a bit of booksellers notation in pencil to the first blank page.
The original dustjacket is not price clipped with the correct $4.00 price.
Dark green endpapers as published.
A beautiful, highly collectable copy of one of Tolkiens later works.
