Farmer Giles of Ham, The Rise and Wonderful Adventures of Farmer Giles, Lord of Tame, Count of Worminghall and King of the Little Kingdom, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

This is his second major published work, preceded only by the Hobbit. Published in 1949, this is the 1st impression of the 1st Edition, published by Allen & Unwin in it's original dustjacket.

A Very Good book, with moderate soiling, with original dustjacket (unclipped) in Very Good condition as well.
The dustjacket is only lightly soiled, with a couple of small tears at the top and bottom of the rear spine fold with some minor loss.

There is also a wrinkle to the middle of the front panel of the dustjacket, but it is not torn thru.
The textblock is clean, without any foxing, top edge dusty, a slight bit of offsetting to the endpapers.

There is a pair of small neat names and 1950 date to the pastedown, and a childs (same names) gift inscription to the first blank page, opposite the half title page. There are two color plates by Pauline Baynes, as well as being illustrated on almost every page with her line drawings.

Highly collectable, this is a nice copy for any Tolkien fans collection.
