A Pocket Hobbit to celebrate The Hobbit’s 75th anniversary of publication (30.07.11 by Pieter Collier) - Comments

To celebrate The Hobbit’s 75th anniversary of publication, a pocket-sized hardback of J.R.R. Tolkien’s timeless classic will be released in October of this year, perfect for little Hobbits everywhere.

With 110 by 151 mm
this can be described as a pocket, but for the very first time we will see a hardback pocket version of the Hobbit with Tolkien's cover being released.

I guess this will be the best selling edition for all people who want to have a copy of The Hobbit closeby or which to read the book well before the release of The Hobbit movies. I believe it is a nice extra edition next to the already existing 70th anniversary edition of the Hobbit.

Most of you will already know the story, but the book is about the hobbit Bilbo Baggins who enjoys a quiet and contented life, with no desire to travel far from the comforts of home; then one day the wizard Gandalf and a band of dwarves arrive unexpectedly and enlist his services – as a burglar. Bilbo’s life is never to be the same again.

Perfect for gift giving, this is a beautiful hardcover pocket edition of The Hobbit, commemorating 75 years since the publication of this beloved book.

The Hobbit Pocket Edition

The Hobbit became an instant success when it was first published in 1937, and 75 years later Tolkien’s epic tale of elves, dwarves, trolls, goblins, myth, magic and adventure, with its reluctant hero Bilbo Baggins, has lost none of its appeal. Now, for the first time, the classic hardback edition is available in a one-off special pocket-sized edition. Featuring the distinctive cover illustration painted by Tolkien himself, plus his own drawings in the book, this edition will be the perfect gift for little Hobbits everywhere!
