Alan Lee is an English artist best known for illustrating the 1991 one-volume hardback edition of The Lord of the Rings. He was one of the two lead concept artists for the 'Lord of the Rings' movie trilogy; Alan Lee won an Academy Award in 2004 for his work on 'The Return Of The King'.
