Houghton Mifflin , 1963/1963/1963 First Editions, 13th/10th/10th impressions . An exceptionally clean and tight set of this classic of fantasy literature. The set is in original cloth with original dustjackets. The books are all in Near Fine condition. No previous owner names, writing, or foxing in any of the books. The dustjackets show only the slightest wear to the edges, and none of the usual tanning or fading on any of the dustjackets. The Fellowship of the Ring has a large 2" closed tear on the back panel, while the Return of the King dustjacket does have some minor loss at the spine folds, as well as a 2" closed tear to the front panel. I also wanted to point out this dustjacket does show the stripe defect as mentioned in the Tolkien Collector article by Steve Frisby. Only the Two Towers dustjacket is price clipped, the others show the oringal $5.00 price. The Two Towers dustjacket also shows some soiling to the rear panel, and some rubbing to the edges and spine areas. The set is housed in a custom hand marbled paper slipcase to show and protect. Original maps are attached at the rear, in Fine condition. Digital photo's available, inquire if interested.
